If you read my article last week, you’d have heard me touch a little on fads. When I say fads, I’m talking about all the new teas, shakes and everything in between, which is being branded as the “solution we’ve all been looking for.”
It’s so well marketed that it makes falling into the trap all that easy. But, do not fear – Eliza is here to save the day!
In this article, I’m going to give you 5 tips on how to spot a fad from an actual product that works.
Not all heroes wear capes!
Don’t fall into the Instagram Hype
Ok firstly, I love social media. I’m forever posting about my classes, how well my members are doing and the odd skiing photo! It’s simply a great platform that allows us to connect and communicate with everybody – including businesses and brands.
But, there’s always a downside to this and that’s falling into the influencer and celebrity trap.
Let me ask you a question:
Have you ever found yourself scrolling through Instagram and noticing that “Such and such a celebrity” posting about this new “Detox” product they’ve found? They’re usually holding one of the products and telling you how amazing it is and how it’s making them burn fat or toning their tummy.
But, then at the end of the inspiring caption you see the little hashtag #ad.
Sneaky right – but that’s exactly what it is – nothing more than an advert. In fact, it’s no different to the ads you see on TV or within a magazine. Well, there is one difference actually – it feels more personal – like they’re actually talking to you and only you.
Genius marketing.
Don’t fall into the trap of believing these ads. More than likely, the celeb or influencer has been given a chunk of cash and a script to read from. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve even tried the product in the first place.
Do your homework
If you do come across a product, which you are intrigued about, then it’s not a bad thing – it’s a good thing. But make sure you do your homework.
Your body is important. What you put in your body or what you use on that body is important too. So, if you are tempted on buying a new health/fitness product you haven’t used before, then, do some research first.
Put on your investigation head and use Google to search around. It’s likely that it will bring up everything you need to know – including the all important REAL reviews.
Ask questions
I receive questions about my classes everyday and I answer each and every one honestly. If you have questions about a product or a service, which you’ve not found the answer for online, then contact the business direct.
This is also a huge indicator for how genuine their product or service is – any business offering a reputable product or service will be happy to help you.
